Clay courts have become more and more popular as the tennis population gets older. These courts may be a little more expensive for the initial installation but generally less expensive over the long run. With the development of new underground irrigation systems, these courts have become easier to maintain. This court surface allows the player to slide to the ball rather than make abrupt stops like hard courts. Large equipment access is not required after installation.
